Based on a comparison of 23 banks in Czechia in 2017, Hypotecni Banka was the best capitalised bank, followed by Max banka and CSOB Stavebni Sporitelna.
Hypotecni Banka's capital adequacy ratio reached 37.3%, up from 33.5% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 49.0% in 2008 and an all time low of 8.16% in 2002.
Comparing Hypotecni Banka with its closest peers, Max banka ended the year 2017 with a capital adequacy ratio at 28.2%, CSOB Stavebni Sporitelna with 20.5% and Modra Pyramida Stavebni Sporitelna some 20.4% at the end of 2017.
The average capital adequacy reached 19.3% in the Czech banking sector in 2017.
