Based on a comparison of 23 banks in Czechia in 2016, Hypotecni Banka was the best capitalised bank, followed by Max banka and CSOB Stavebni Sporitelna.
Hypotecni Banka's capital adequacy ratio reached 33.5%, down from 36.6% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 49.0% in 2008 and an all time low of 8.16% in 2002.
Comparing Hypotecni Banka with its closest peers, Max banka ended the year 2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 28.5%, CSOB Stavebni Sporitelna with 20.5% and MONETA Money Bank some 20.5% at the end of 2016.
The average capital adequacy reached 18.4% in the Czech banking sector in 2016.
