Based on a comparison of 21 banks in Czechia in 1Q2016, Hypotecni Banka was the best capitalised bank, followed by Max banka and Ceska Sporitelna.
Hypotecni Banka's capital adequacy ratio reached 39.0%, up from 36.6% when compared to the previous quarter and up from 37.1% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 56.4% in 2Q2008 and an all time low of 8.16% in 4Q2002.
When compared to the nearest peers, Max banka ended the year 1Q2016 with a capital adequacy ratio at 21.3%, Ceska Sporitelna with 20.1% and Modra Pyramida Stavebni Sporitelna some 19.5% at the end of 1Q2016.
The average capital adequacy reached 18.1% in the Czech banking sector in 1Q2016.
