The bank generated an average return on equity of 4.92% for its shareholders in the last five years with a maximum of 9.44% and a minimum of -0.836%.
Comparing Zagrebacka Banka with its closest peers, Privredna Banka Zagreb generated a net profit of HRK 1,660 mil with a ROE of 10.3% in 2016, Erste & Steiermarkische Bank netted HRK 875 mil (ROE of 11.6%) and Raiffeisenbank Croatia announced a net profit of HRK 535 mil giving a ROE of 11.5%.
The net profit of the Croatia’s banking sector amounted to HRK 5,099 mil in 2016, up 212% compared to the previous year. Heading up the rankings, Zagrebacka Banka accounted for 33.1% of the sector’s net profit in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 82.8% share while the five largest firms some 100% in 2016.
