Total primary coal production rose 17.3% to 4,590 kt in Pakistan in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, total primary coal production in Pakistan reached an all time high of 5,369 kt in 2005 and an all time low of 1,883 kt in 1981. When compared to Pakistan's main peers, total primary coal production in Afghanistan amounted to 1,504 kt, 4,376,984 kt in China, 643,720 kt in India and 1,213 kt in Iran in 2015.
