Historically, total coal consumption in Spain reached an all time high of 53,696 kt in 1985 and an all time low of 16,431 kt in 2010. When compared to Spain's main peers, total coal consumption in France amounted to 15,045 kt, 21,450 kt in Italy, 6,695 kt in Morocco and 5,973 kt in Portugal in 2015.
