Unmanufactured tobacco production rose 39.0% to 93,130 tonnes in Mozambique in 2021, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, unmanufactured tobacco production in Mozambique reached an all time high of 142,041 tonnes in 2019 and an all time low of 2,000 tonnes in 1967. When compared to Mozambique's main peers, unmanufactured tobacco production in Malawi amounted to 105,480 tonnes, 11,500 tonnes in South Africa, 58,508 tonnes in Tanzania and 27,483 tonnes in Zambia in 2021.
