Historically, unmanufactured tobacco production in Costa Rica reached an all time high of 3,186 tonnes in 1976 and an all time low of 14.0 tonnes in 2017. When compared to Costa Rica's main peers, unmanufactured tobacco production in Guatemala amounted to 30,191 tonnes, 5,849 tonnes in Honduras, 7,786 tonnes in Nicaragua and 2,748 tonnes in Panama in 2022.
