Unmanufactured tobacco production fell 80.4% to 190 tonnes in Romania in 2022, according to the National Statistical Office.
Historically, unmanufactured tobacco production in Romania reached an all time high of 64,000 tonnes in 1976 and an all time low of 190 tonnes in 2022. When compared to Romania's main peers, unmanufactured tobacco production in Bulgaria amounted to 3,820 tonnes, 3,680 tonnes in Hungary, 100 tonnes in Moldova and 1,580 tonnes in Ukraine in 2022.
Romania has been ranked 102nd within the group of 115 countries we follow in terms of unmanufactured tobacco production, 13 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
