Unmanufactured tobacco production fell 38.3% to 8,782 tonnes in Japan in 2022, according to the National Statistical Office.
Historically, unmanufactured tobacco production in Japan reached an all time high of 212,600 tonnes in 1964 and an all time low of 8,782 tonnes in 2022. When compared to Japan's main peers, unmanufactured tobacco production in China amounted to 2,188,100 tonnes, 2.20 tonnes in Russia, 28,649 tonnes in South Korea and 202,920 tonnes in USA in 2022.
Japan has been ranked 41st within the group of 115 countries we follow in terms of unmanufactured tobacco production, 7 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
