Unmanufactured tobacco production fell 15.7% to 970 tonnes in Romania in 2021, according to the National Statistical Office.
Historically, unmanufactured tobacco production in Romania reached an all time high of 64,000 tonnes in 1976 and an all time low of 970 tonnes in 2021. When compared to Romania's main peers, unmanufactured tobacco production in Bulgaria amounted to 6,050 tonnes, 5,640 tonnes in Hungary, 500 tonnes in Moldova and 2,290 tonnes in Ukraine in 2021.
Romania has been ranked 90th within the group of 116 countries we follow in terms of unmanufactured tobacco production, 18 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
