Historically, proved reserves of crude oil in Libya reached an all time high of 48.5 bil barrels in 2014 and an all time low of 21.0 bil barrels in 1988. When compared to Libya's main peers, proved reserves of crude oil in Algeria amounted to 12.2 bil barrels, 1.50 bil barrels in Chad, 4.40 bil barrels in Egypt and 0.425 bil barrels in Tunisia in 2017.
