Historically, proved reserves of crude oil in Iraq reached an all time high of 144 bil barrels in 2015 and an all time low of 29.7 bil barrels in 1982. When compared to Iraq's main peers, proved reserves of crude oil in Iran amounted to 158 bil barrels, 102 bil barrels in Kuwait, 266 bil barrels in Saudi Arabia and 2.50 bil barrels in Syria in 2017.
