Production of passenger cars fell 24.0% to 12,035 thousand in the European Union in 2020, according to ACEA.

Historically, production of passenger cars in the European Union reached an all time high of 17,100 thousand in 2007 and an all time low of 11,397 thousand in 1993. When compared to European Union's main peers, production of passenger cars in China amounted to 19,994 thousand, 6,960 thousand in Japan, 1,261 thousand in Russia and 1,927 thousand in USA in 2020.
