Production of cars as a share of worldwide production rose 0.518% to 12.5% in Japan in 2020, according to ACEA.

Historically, production of cars as a share of worldwide production in Japan reached an all time high of 22.1% in 1997 and an all time low of 10.9% in 2016. When compared to Japan's main peers, production of cars as a share of worldwide production in China amounted to 35.8%, 2.26% in Russia, 5.75% in South Korea and 3.45% in USA in 2020.
