Population in cities of more than 1 million rose 4.38% to 1.17 mil in Malawi in 2021, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million in Malawi reached an all time high of 1.17 mil in 2021 and an all time low of 0.011 mil in 1960. When compared to Malawi's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million in Mozambique amounted to 2.87 mil, 21.7 mil in South Africa, 8.23 mil in Tanzania and 2.91 mil in Zambia in 2021.
