Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million in Nicaragua reached an all time high of 1.07 mil in 2021 and an all time low of 0.199 mil in 1960. When compared to Nicaragua's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million in Costa Rica amounted to 1.42 mil, 1.11 mil in El Salvador, 1.49 mil in Honduras and 53.4 mil in Mexico in 2021.
