Population in cities of more than 1 million rose 0.280% to 26.1 mil in South Korea in 2021, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, population in cities of more than 1 million in South Korea reached an all time high of 26.1 mil in 2021 and an all time low of 5.46 mil in 1960. When compared to South Korea's main peers, population in cities of more than 1 million in China amounted to 420 mil, 3.11 mil in Dem. People's Republic of Korea, 81.5 mil in Japan and 17.9 mil in Vietnam in 2021.
