Petrol-fuelled as a share of new cars sold fell 14.5% to 55.4% in the United Kingdom in 2020, according to ACEA.

Historically, petrol-fuelled as a share of new cars sold in the United Kingdom reached an all time high of 93.6% in 1990 and an all time low of 51.3% in 2015. When compared to United Kingdom's main peers, petrol-fuelled as a share of new cars sold in Belgium amounted to 51.8%, 46.9% in France, 46.7% in Germany and 36.9% in Ireland in 2020.

United Kingdom has been ranked 11th within the group of 29 countries we follow in terms of petrol-fuelled as a share of new cars sold, 11 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
