Passenger cars per 1,000 people rose 4.61% to 115 vehicles in China in 2019, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, passenger cars per 1,000 people in China reached an all time high of 115 vehicles in 2019 and an all time low of 10.0 vehicles in 2003. When compared to China's main peers, passenger cars per 1,000 people in India amounted to 19.7 vehicles, 501 vehicles in Japan, 354 vehicles in Russia and 360 vehicles in USA in 2019.

China has been ranked 80th within the group of 135 countries we follow in terms of passenger cars per 1,000 people, 18 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
