Passenger cars per 1,000 people rose 2.93% to 19.7 vehicles in India in 2019, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, passenger cars per 1,000 people in India reached an all time high of 19.7 vehicles in 2019 and an all time low of 7.50 vehicles in 2006. When compared to India's main peers, passenger cars per 1,000 people in Bangladesh amounted to 2.47 vehicles, 115 vehicles in China, 15.4 vehicles in Pakistan and 33.4 vehicles in Sri Lanka in 2019.
