Historically, passenger cars per 1,000 people in Ireland reached an all time high of 442 vehicles in 2008 and an all time low of 226 vehicles in 1990. When compared to Ireland's main peers, passenger cars per 1,000 people in Canada amounted to 620 vehicles, 496 vehicles in France, 678 vehicles in Iceland and 530 vehicles in United Kingdom in 2015.
