Historically, passenger cars per 1,000 people in Italy reached an all time high of 627 vehicles in 2019 and an all time low of 190 vehicles in 1970. When compared to Italy's main peers, passenger cars per 1,000 people in Austria amounted to 573 vehicles, 497 vehicles in France, 540 vehicles in Slovenia and 552 vehicles in Switzerland in 2019.
