Oil refinery capacities fell 7.15% to 3,343 '000 barrels daily in Japan in 2017, according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy.

Historically, oil refinery capacities in Japan reached an all time high of 5,643 '000 barrels daily in 1982 and an all time low of 1,917 '000 barrels daily in 1965. When compared to Japan's main peers, oil refinery capacities in China amounted to 14,513 '000 barrels daily, 6,584 '000 barrels daily in Russia, 3,246 '000 barrels daily in South Korea and 18,567 '000 barrels daily in USA in 2017.
