Historically, merchandise trade as a share of GDP in Togo reached an all time high of 99.3% in 2013 and an all time low of 25.5% in 1993. When compared to Togo's main peers, merchandise trade as a share of GDP in Benin amounted to 45.4%, 48.9% in Burkina Faso, 36.5% in Ghana and 22.4% in Nigeria in 2021.
