Merchandise trade as a share of GDP rose 21.6% to 107% in Thailand in 2021, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, merchandise trade as a share of GDP in Thailand reached an all time high of 123% in 2008 and an all time low of 28.3% in 1970. When compared to Thailand's main peers, merchandise trade as a share of GDP in Cambodia amounted to 170%, 74.2% in Laos, 144% in Malaysia and 45.3% in Myanmar in 2021.
