Historically, maize production in Mali reached an all time high of 3,817 kt in 2019 and an all time low of 44.0 kt in 1972. When compared to Mali's main peers, maize production in Algeria amounted to 18.5 kt, 1,913 kt in Burkina Faso, 12.0 kt in Mauritania and 5.68 kt in Niger in 2021.
