Historically, life expectancy for both sexes in the European Union reached an all time high of 81.3 years in 2019 and an all time low of 69.0 years in 1960. When compared to European Union's main peers, life expectancy for both sexes in China amounted to 78.1 years, 84.6 years in Japan, 71.3 years in Russia and 77.3 years in USA in 2020.
