Historically, kerosene consumption in Ethiopia reached an all time high of 6.27 '000 bpd in 2009 and an all time low of 0.254 '000 bpd in 1993. When compared to Ethiopia's main peers, kerosene consumption in Eritrea amounted to 0.296 '000 bpd, 6.31 '000 bpd in Kenya, 0.699 '000 bpd in Somalia and 0.064 '000 bpd in Sudan in 2015.
