Interest rate on bank loans fell 8.65% to 7.04% in South Africa in 2021, according to the National Central Bank.
Historically, interest rate on bank loans in South Africa reached an all time high of 22.3% in 1984 and an all time low of 5.50% in 1963. When compared to South Africa's main peers, interest rate on bank loans in Botswana amounted to 5.25%, 8.21% in Lesotho, 6.86% in Namibia and 7.25% in Swaziland in 2021.
