Hypoteční Banka is the Czech Republic's largest mortgage lender with a share of over 25%. Despite being a 100% subsidiary of ČSOB, Hypoteční has kept its distinctive brand name and relatively high level of independence.
The Bank had 472 employees in 2012. Since 2000, the staff costs increased from around 50% to over 60% of total cost in 2012. More interestingly, average staff cost had increased more than four-fold in the same period, from USD 1,000 per person and month to USD 4,368 in 2012.
Still, the Bank is impressively profitable with average ROE of 20-30% when adjusted for its hefty overcapitalization
