Tata Motors invested a total of INR 295 bil in 2019, down 16.2% compared to the previous year. Historically, between 2008 - 2019, the company's investments stood at a high of INR 352 bil in 2018 and a low of INR 81.1 bil in 2010.
As a percentage of total sales, investments stood at 11.4% in 2019, down from 11.8% as seen in the previous year. This is compared to an average of 11.7% over the last five years.
The total value of cash investments was INR -30.9 bil in 2019. Apart from the capital expenditures, the company booked INR 0 bil inflow from long-term investments, further INR 0.270 bil outflow due to acquisitions and INR 63.6 bil outflow from other investing activities.
As far as Tata Motors's peers are concerned, Kamaz Group invested RUB 12.8 bil, or 6.74% of its sales in 2019. Comparable figures for Scania Group are SEK 7,558 mil and 4.96%.
