Based on a comparison of 32 countries in 2019, Hungary ranked the highest in expenditure on pharmaceuticals as a share of total health care expenditures with 26.9% followed by Latvia and Greece. On the other end of the scale was Denmark with 6.40%, Norway with 7.12% and Netherlands with 7.46%.
