HDFC Bank's non-performing loans reached 1.28% of total loans at the end of 2018, up from 1.22% compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 1.98% in 2008 and an all time low of 0.896% in 2015.
Provision coverage amounted to 71.4% at the end of 2018, up from 69.8% compared to a year earlier.
The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 1.00% of average loans in 2018. That's compared to 0.792% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.
