Foreign trade as a share of GDP rose 15.8% to 148% in Macedonia in 2021, according to the National Statistical Office.
Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Macedonia reached an all time high of 148% in 2021 and an all time low of 46.4% in 1991. When compared to Macedonia's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Albania amounted to 74.5%, 121% in Bulgaria, 89.5% in Greece and 98.6% in Kosovo in 2021.
