Cigarette consumption per capita of 15+ years old fell 2.56% to 1,353 per year in Italy in 2016, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, cigarette consumption per capita of 15+ years old in Italy reached an all time high of 2,100 per year in 2002 and an all time low of 1,353 per year in 2016. When compared to Italy's main peers, cigarette consumption per capita of 15+ years old in Austria amounted to 1,677 per year, 829 per year in France, 1,621 per year in Slovenia and 1,312 per year in Switzerland in 2016.
