Cigarette consumption per capita of 15+ years old fell 1.06% to 1,677 per year in Austria in 2016, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, cigarette consumption per capita of 15+ years old in Austria reached an all time high of 2,619 per year in 1979 and an all time low of 1,675 per year in 1961. When compared to Austria's main peers, cigarette consumption per capita of 15+ years old in Germany amounted to 1,073 per year, 798 per year in Hungary, 1,353 per year in Italy and 1,312 per year in Switzerland in 2016.
