Bank deposits as a share of GDP rose 26.2% to 29.6% in Mauritania in 2015, according to the National Central Bank.

Historically, bank deposits as a share of GDP in Mauritania reached an all time high of 29.6% in 2015 and an all time low of 14.7% in 2006. When compared to Mauritania's main peers, bank deposits as a share of GDP in Algeria amounted to 49.5%, 31.4% in Mali, 83.2% in Morocco and 29.3% in Senegal in 2015.

Mauritania has been ranked 109th within the group of 137 countries we follow in terms of bank deposits as a share of GDP, 22 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
