Historically, alcoholic beverage consumption per capita in Botswana reached an all time high of 145 litres in 2019 and an all time low of 28.7 litres in 1978. When compared to Botswana's main peers, alcoholic beverage consumption per capita in Namibia amounted to 93.9 litres, 68.5 litres in South Africa, 33.2 litres in Zambia and 25.5 litres in Zimbabwe in 2021.
